I just came out of my Covid fog. I finally got the virus. This is very scary for us who have had Artery Dissections. VAD can be caused by excessive coughing or vomiting, so getting something like Covid is a real danger for our community.
I am fortunate to be quite healed since my VAD and Strokes, but I still have very real PTSD from my condition. I had a fever for 4 days that caused my body and brain to experience dizzy-spells. I had waves of lightheadedness. As hard as I try, I can’t quite shake the memories of my strokes that caused so much dizziness and vertigo, and the slightest inkling of these symptoms instill deep fear in me.
Along with PTST from my VAD, Covid completely fucked my marathon training! It is only 5 weeks until race-day. So far, my longest run has only been about 14 miles. I have so much training to go and only a few more weeks to push. Even so, I am feeling quite confident that I will achieve my goal of completing a second marathon this year and raising another $3000 for Tedy’s Team, all while raising awareness for VAD survivors. Please consider donating if you are able.
I’m sorry for anyone who is catching the Covid variant that I just had! This was way worse than I had expected. I am finally back to work, but my body still hurts from the days of sitting and shivering.
