Less than one month away from Humboldt Bay Marathon and Half Marathon! I have the pleasure of helping out with a couple aspects of the race again this year. I am looking for some people to volunteer on race-day; I am also volunteering my time for packet pick-up. I am hoping to run the half marathon this year.
If you are interested in running or volunteering, please contact me or visit the Humboldt Bay Marathon website! I would love to see you out on the course! It is going to be another exciting year for this young race as the course keeps getting better each year.
My training is on hold a bit. I’m dealing with shin splints again. I am a bit worried that it has progressed into a stress fracture, but I have not found out for sure at this point. I have halted all high-impact training and I am focused on mobility, strengthening and low-impact cardio such as rowing, air-bike and swimming. If I am not doing well for the race, I will be in the cheering section, and that is fine by me! I have bigger goals to achieve this year.
Other than my shin splints, my health is absolutely fantastic lately. My neck and brain feel good. I still continue to make progress since my brain injuries; my patience and clarity of thoughts are improving all the time. I am also more patient with myself and learning to be more balanced with my eating and drinking habits and workout schedule. I give myself rest when needed and allow myself to enjoy food and beverages in moderation and I try not to overdo anything. I am easily persuaded to go overboard on food, booze and the gym….
Thanks for stopping by! I know I haven’t blogged in a while, but I will be here more in the coming months. Fun goals coming for the end of the year!
